Calvin Women's Soccer Gains Tie With Franklin

BLOOMINGTON, Il. - Calvin picked up a 0-0 double-overtime tie against Franklin College (Ind.) Saturday night on the campus of Illinois Wesleyan University.

Calvin (0-3-1) outshot Franklin (0-3-1) by a 31-6 margin but the Knights were unable to dent the back of the net.

Calvin outshot the Grizzlies 13-2 in the opening half and held a 9-1 shots at goal advantage in overtime. Calvin fired five shots at goal over the final 10 minutes of overtime including a pair of shots in the 107th minute that forced Franklin's Lexi Short into back-to-back game-saving stops.

Junior Jessica Paulson (Plymouth, Mich./Plymouth Christian HS) was the top shot generator for the Knights with nine, seven of which were saved by Short.

Short finished the match with 14 saves. Junior Amy Kliewer (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Northern HS) had three saves in goal for Calvin.

The Knights return to action next Wednesday when they travel to Wheaton (Il.) for a 6 p.m. (CDT) match.
