Calvin Women's Golf In Fifth Place Through Day One of Kyle Campbell Invitational

MARSHALL, Mich. - The Calvin women's golf team is in fifth place in a field of 12 teams through one day of competition at the Kyle Campbell Invitational hosted by Olivet College at the Medalist Golf Club.

Calvin posted a team score of 346 strokes, four strokes ahead of sixth place Hope and seven strokes behind fourth place Cleary University.

Sophomore Emma Dykhouse (Byron Center, Mich./South Christian HS) led the Knights with an 85 while junior Linnea McDonnough (Pentwater, Mich./Pentwater HS) had an 86. Junior Meredith Bult (Wheaton, Il./Wheaton Academy HS) had an 87 with sophomore Kaylee Hirschman (Grand Ledge, Mich./Grand Ledge HS) carding an 88. Freshman Jericha Sharphorn (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville HS) had a 97 to round out Calvin's lineup.

Competing individually, junior Amanda Scholten (Wyoming, Mich./Calvin Christian HS) had a 94 and junior McKenna Smith (Bridgman, Mich./Bridgman HS) a 99.

Saint Mary's leads the field with a team score of 322 with Olivet close behind at 324.

Action continues with the final round Saturday.
