GRANGER, Ind. – The Calvin women's Golf team took second place in the second 18-hole round of the MIAA AQ Spring Tournament at Knollwood Country Club.
Finishing in first place was the team of Saint Mary's with a score of 317. Calvin was next with 345 strokes followed by Hope with 359 and Albion with 372.
Leading the Knights was freshman Emma Dykhouse (Byron Center, Mich. / South Christian) with a round of 84. Sophomore Linnea McDonough (Byron Center, Mich. / South Christian) shot an 85. Senior Nicole VanderYacht (Kentwood, Mich. / South Christian) and freshman Kaylee Hirschman (Grand Ledge, Mich. / Grand Ledge) recorded a round of 88 each. Sophomore Meredith Bult (Wheaton, IL. / Wheaton Academy) rounded out scoring for the Knights with a 93.
Head Coach Jerry Bergsma stated, "Very pleased with our consistant peformance from the whole group today. Linnea and Emma stepped up and played well on a challenginh golf course in high winds. Nicole came up clutch with two birdies and some big shots despite strugglung throughout the round."
The Knights return to action on Saturday as they compete in round three of the MIAA AQ Spring Tournament at Knollwood Country Club. First tee off is at 11:30 a.m.
