Calvin Women's Golf Takes Sixth at Opening MIAA Jamboree
MARSHALL, Mich. - The Calvin women's golf team battled through heat and a weather delay on Thursday to finish sixth at an MIAA Jamboree hosted by Olivet Thursday afternoon at the Medalist Golf Club.
Playing in temperatures that soared into the mid-90s with a heat index over 100, Calvin posted a team score of 364 strokes, just two stroke back of fifth place Trine.

The MIAA Jamboree is the first of four scheduled jamborees this fall.
Thursday's competition was delayed by a thunderstorm that swept through Marshall with just a few holes left to play but was completed shortly before dusk.
Junior Nicole VanderYacht (Kentwood, Mich./South Christian HS) had Calvin's top score on Thursday with a round of 87 to tie for 12th place individually.
Sophomore Jessica Zylstra (Grand Rapids, Mich./Northpointe Christian HS) and freshman Linnea McDonnough (Pentwater, Mich./Pentwater HS) both had rounds of 90 to tie for 20th place individually.
Senior Gen Best (Brighton, Mich./Brighton HS) had a 97 and junior Katy Hamilton (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Catholic Central HS) a 101 to round out Calvin's finishers.
Saint Mary's took first place in the team standings with a score of 328. Megan Klintworth of Hope was the tournament medalist with a 76.
Calvin returns to action on Saturday, competing at an MIAA Jamboree hosted by Trine University at 1:30 p.m. at the Zollner Golf Club.
