HOLLAND, Mich. – The Calvin Men's Track and Field team competed in the opeing day of the MIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Brewer Track.
After the conclusion of today's events, Calvin is in first place with 58 points, 28 points ahead of second place Trine.
Starting the Knights out strong in the 10,000 meters, Jonathan Ellis won with a time of 32:08.05. Close behind in second was Jamison Koeman with a time of 32:10.71. Micah Meindertsma finished in sixth place with a time of 32:53.45 and Jonathan Randall rounded out the scoring in eighth place recording a time of 33:00.85.
In the Shot Put, Brendan VanHouten finished in third place with a haul of 47-4 ¼. Jayvin Wolfe was right behind VanHouten in fourth place recording a throw of 45-9 ¾. Bryce Reynolds closed out the scoring in eighth place with a 43-9 ¼.
Moving on to the Hammer Throw, VanHouten finished in second place with a mark of 183-2. Finishing third was Eric Van Eck with a toss of 168-8 followed by Reynolds in fourth with a 157-2.
The Knights return to action tomorrow as they compete in the final day of the MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Field events start at 10 a.m. followed by running events at 1:30 p.m.
