Calvin College senior Ben Holstege has been named to the Google Cloud Division III Academic All-District Team in the men's at-large division.
As a member of the all-district team, Holstege moves on to the national ballot and is eligible for Google Cloud Academic All-America consideration.
The men's at-large division includes the sports of lacrosse, rifle, skiing, fencing, swimming and diving, tennis, golf, volleyball, gymnastics, water polo, ice hockey and wrestling.
A native of Keswick, Virginia, Holstege was a five-time NCAA Division III All-American on the Calvin men's swimming and diving team over the last four years. This past March, he took fourth in the 100 backstroke with a school-record time of 47.82 after placing fifth in the race at the national meet the year before. A graduate of Keswick High School, he was also a part of three All-America relay teams at the NCAA III Championships this spring. He was a member of Calvin's 400 freestyle relay that placed fifth, its 400 medley relay that placed seventh and its 200 freestyle relay that also placed seventh.
In addition he has been a part of five NCAA III Honorable Mention All-America relays in his career. An eight-time MIAA Swimmer of the Week, Holstege was also the 2018 MIAA Most Valuable Swimmer. He was a three-time MIAA champion in the 100 backstroke and a four-time member of the All-MIAA Men's Swimming and Diving Team.
Holstege is a biochemistry major. He carries a 3.76 grade point average and is set to graduate this Saturday. He is a seven-time member of the Calvin Dean's List and a three-time member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll. He was also named a College Swim Coaches Association of America Scholar All-American in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
