Calvin Men's Soccer Set to Take on Greenville in First Round of NCAA Tournament

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Calvin College will host the NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament this weekend. The Knights will take on the Panthers of Greenville in the first round on Friday at 3 p.m.

The Teams: The Panthers are 15-4-2 on the season. The Knights bring an 17-1-0 record into the match. 

The Coaches: Chris Swift is in his third season with the Panthers. A 2006 graduate of Vanguard University in California with a Bachelor's Degree in History and Political Science.In his two years as head coach, the Panthers have placed one player on the NCCAA All-American list, eight players on the All-Conference teams, two players on the NCCAA All-Region team and have garnered a total of six Conference Players of the Week and two NCCAA National Players of the Week.

Ryan Souders is in his seventh season with the Knights. Souders is a 2007 graduate of Wheaton College where he played four-years as a goalkeeper for the men's soccer team. During the past six years, Souders has led the Knights to five NCAA tournament appearances. Souders has totaled a record of 124-17-7 as head coach of the Knights.

The Players: For the Panthers, Jared McPeek leads the team in scoring with 16 goals, four assists and 36 points. 

For the Knights, seniorBobby McCaw leads Calvin in scoring with 19 goals, 11 assists and 49 points.
