GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Calvin men's Lacrosse team defeated Anderson University 22-1 on Saturday evening at Eagles Stadium.
The Knights came out strong as they recorded four goals in the first three minutes of play. Five minutes in, the Ravens got on the board as Calvin led 4-1.
With ten minutes left in the quarter, the Knights went on to score seven goals as the quarter closed out 11-1.
Calvin struck seven times in the second quarter and the Knights expanded their lead 17-1 at the half.
With the third quarter underway, Calvin continued to control the ball as it struck three more times to lead 21-1.
Calvin went on to record two more goals in the fourth quarter and the Knights walked away with the 23-1 win.
Leading the Knights was senior Max Foster (Bloomfield Hills, Mich. / Brother Rice) with five goals. Senior Austin Bontreger (Fishers, Ind. / Heritage Christian) had four goals. Claiming hat tricks were sophomore Jacob Gandara (Santa Clarita, Calif. / West Ranch), sophomore Noah Boelens (Round Lake, Ill. Grayslake Central), freshman Chase Sparling (Novi, Mich./ Novi). Sophomre Nathan Jindra (South Bend, Ind. / John Adams) recorded two goals. Logging one goal each were senior Noah Nedd (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Grand Rapids Christian), freshman Derrick Bittner (Milwaukee, Wisc. / Wauwatosa East) and junior Griffin Sparling (Novi, Mich. / Hartland).
Head coach Dave Hoger stated, " Today was a great team win. I thought our guys did a great job of playing disciplined and unselfish lacrosse."
The Knights outshot the Ravens 70-6.
The Knights return to action on Tuesday as they host Carroll (WI) at 8 p.m. for a non-conference contest at Eagles Stadium.
