WEST OLIVE, Mich. - Calvin opened its MIAA fall campaign by placing fifth at MIAA Fall Tournament #1 with a team score of 316 strokes. Monday's competition was hosted by Hope at the Wuskowhan Player's Club.
Calvin finished two strokes behind fourth place Adrian and seven strokes behind third place Kalamazoo. Trine took first place team honors with a score of 296 strokes.
Calvin was paced by junior Sam Holland (Novi, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central HS) who carded a round of 73 that was good for a tie for second place individually.
Freshman Jacob Siebenga (Surrey, B.C.) had Calvin's second-best score with an 80. Sophomore Josh Lansky (Park City, UT/Park City HS) followed with an 81 while sophomoore Kasen Anderson (Stillwater, Mn./St. Croix Preparatory HS) had an 82. Senior Austin Umlauf (Lowell, Ind./Hanover Central HS) had an 84 to round out Calvin's lineup. Competing individually for Calvin, freshman Seth Bouwer (Dyer, Ind./Illiana Christian HS) had a 94.
Nick Knowlton of Trine was the tournament medalist on Monday with a round of 71.
Calvin returns to action Friday and Saturday when it competes at the Irish Hills Invitational.
