ANGOLA, Ind. - The Calvin men's golf team remains in second place in the MIAA overall fall standings after finishing tied for second at an MIAA Tournament hosted by Trine University Saturday at the Zollner Golf Club.
Calvin tied for second with host Trine at the tournament with a team score of 296 strokes. Hope took first place with a course record score of 277.
Calvin remains two strokes ahead of Trine in the MIAA overall standings.
Sophomore Sam Holland (Novi, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central HS) led Calvin on Saturday with a round of 71 that left him tied for third place individually.
Senior Sam Kuiper (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) had a 72 that was good for a tie for seventh place individually.
Senior Alec DeJong (Niles, Mich./Brandywine HS) tied for 13th, posting a round of 74. Freshman Andrew Lack (Northville, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central HS) came up with a round of 79 while freshman Kasen Anderson (Stillwater, Mn./St. Croix Preparatory HS) had a round of 80.
Competing individually, freshman Mike Battiste (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Central HS) had a 73.
Calvin will now prepare to compete at an MIAA Tournament hosted by Albion next Thursday at the Medalist Golf Club in Marshall.
