Calvin's Derrick DeVries Named to All-MAA Men's Basketball Team

Calvin College junior Derrick DeVries has been named to the All-MIAA First Team in men's basketball.

A native of Grand Rapids and a graduate of Covenant Christian High School, DeVries is receiving All-MIAA First Team accolades for the first time. A year ago he was named to the All-MIAA Second Team.

A 6-5 forward, DeVries finished sixth in the MIAA scoring race with an average of 17.2 points a game in conference play. He also finished fifth in the league in rebounds per game (7.2), sixth in free throw percentage (.808). In a 74-70 win over Hope on January 9, he scored a season-high 29 points on 12 of 19 shooting.

DeVries has notched double-digits in scoring in 21 of the 24 games he has played in this season. He has been named MIAA Player of the Week once during the year.
