OSHKOSH, Wis. - Calvin dropped a 92-56 decision at seventh-ranked Wisconsin-Oshkosh Saturday afternoon.
The host Titans (7-1) opened the game with a 24-7 scoring run and never looked back. Calvin (4-5) trailed 53-31 at halftime. Calvin shot 39.0 percent from the floor while Wisconsin-Oshkosh shot 56.3 percent from the floor. Wisconsin-Oshkosh was 15 of 33 (.455) from three-point range while Calvin was just 3 of 15 from long range.
Calvin was led in scoring by junior Derrick DeVries (Grand Rapids, Mich./Covenant Christian HS) who scored 21 points, extending his double-figure scoring streak to 17 games. DeVries was 9 of 15 from the floor. Sophomore Thad Shymanski (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) added 10 points for the Knights.
Jack Flynn led Wisconsin-Oshkosh with 20 points.
Saturday's game marked Calvin's fifth game of the season against a nationally-ranked opponent this year.
Calvin will now break until December 18 and 19 when it competes at the Great Lakes Invitational hosted by Hope College. Calvin will face Mount St. Joseph on December 18 and LaRoche on December 19. Both games will be played at Hope's DeVos Fieldhouse with tip times of 5:30 p.m. each night.
