Calvin's Men's Baseball Swept By Britons

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Calvin men's baseball team fell to Albion in a doubleheader on Saturday evening at Calvin Baseball Field. 


Albion 10, Calvin 1

Albion started out the game recording one run in the top of the first inning to take the early 1-0 lead. 

Albion broke loose for five runs in the fifth and two in the seventh to pull away 10-0. 

The Knights were able to get on the board in the bottom of the seventh as freshman Matt Raymond (Chicago, Ill. / Loyola Academy)had a sacrifice fly out to right field to bring in freshman Ryan Peterson (Glen Ellyn, Il. / Glenbard West) to close out the game. 


Albion 7, Calvin 3

Calvin struck first in the bottom of the second as junior Jeremy Clark (San Diego, Calif. / Mt. Carmel) reached on a fielder's choice and junior Logan Marshall (Plymouth, Mich. / Salem) scored as the Knights took the early 1-0 lead. 

The Knights pulled ahead 2-0 in the bottom of the third as sophomore Ricky Padilla (Poway, Calif. / Poway) singled to left field and senior Miles Kuperus (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Grand Rapids Christian) ran home. 

Calvin added another run in the bottom of the fourth as Marshall blasted a homer to left field to give the Knights the 3-0 edge. 

Albion got on the board in the top of the fifth to trail by two.

In the seventh, Albion's Dylan Perry homered to left field to tighten the ballgame to within one. 

Albion tied things up on a two-out RBI single in the top of the ninth.  

Calvin loaded the bases in the ninth but failed to score.

In the 10th, the Britons broke through for four runs to take the 7-3 lead.

The Knights were unable to score any runs in the bottom of the tenth as Albion walked away with the 7-3 victory. 

UP NEXT: The Knights return to action on Wednesday as the travel to Defiance to take on the Yellow Jackets at 4 p.m. for a non-conference contest.
