The Calvin Knights ACHA D1 Hockey Team fell to the Davenport University Panthers 5-2 on Wednesday night.
In the first period the Knights started the game fast and strong looking to find the go ahead goal. But it was the Panthers to strike first. Later in the first period the Knights found the equalizer with a goal from Austin Huizenga with the assist from Christian Gums. Just two minutes after the Knights equalizing goal the Panthers found the back of the net once again. The first period ended with the Panthers in the lead 2-1.
In the second period the Panthers scored three unanswered goals in the first six minutes. Late in the second the Knights found a goal of their own coming from Nick Workman with the assists from Josh Hartlein and Garrett Medina. The second period concluded with the Panthers in the lead 5-2.
In the third period neither team could find the back of the net. The Panthers held on to their three goal lead and walked away with a 5-2 victory.
The Knights goaltender Alex Gross played a strong game with 44 saves on the night.
