Anna Kamp and Sarah DeVries Named Division III Volleyball Google Cloud Academic All-Americans

and Sarah DeVries of the Calvin women's volleyball team have been named Google Cloud Academic All-Americans.

Kamp and DeVries were both named to the Division III Google Cloud Women's Volleyball Academic All-America first team earlier today by the College Sports Information Directors' Association of America (CoSIDA). 

Both individuals are receiving Google Cloud Academic All-America honors for the first time. 

Kamp joins older sisters Rebecca, Lizzie and Maggie Kamp as first team Academic All-America selections. They are believed to be the first quartet of sisters in CoSIDA history to be named Academic All-Americans by the organization. 

A native of Orland Park, Illinois, Kamp recently completed a standout four-year career with the Calvin women's volleyball team. During her tenure with the Knights, she helped the Calvin women's volleyball program post an overall won-loss record of 126-11 that included four MIAA regular season championships, three MIAA Tournament titles, three trips to the national semifinals two trips to the national final and one national championship. 

She completed her career with 1,645 kills, ranking third on the Calvin career list, trailing only sisters Rebecca (1,868) and Maggie (1,782).

An outside hitter, Kamp was a three-time first team All-MIAA selection and the MIAA's Most Valuable Player in 2017 and 2018. In 2016, 2017 and 2018 she was named a first team Division III All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. In 2017, she was named the AVCA Division III National Player of the Year. 

This past November she was named to the NCAA III Finals All-Tournament Team after leading Calvin to the NCAA III Tournament final against Emory University. 

In the classroom, Kamp is a business major with an emphasis in human resources. She carries a 3.76 grade point average and has been a three-time member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll and a six-time member of the Calvin Dean's List.

A setter/middle-hitter, DeVries is from Grand Rapids and a graduate of Grand Rapids Northpointe Christian High School. 

This past month, DeVries was named the 2018 AVCA Division III National Player of the Year and landed a spot on the AVCA Division III All-America first team. She was named to the AVCA Division III All-America second team in 2017. 

DeVries was the AVCA Division III Great Lakes Regional Player of the Year this fall and was named the Most Outstanding Player of an NCAA III Regional Tournament hosted by Calvin in November. She was later named to the NCAA III Tournament Finals All-Tournament Team after helping lead Calvin to the national championship final against Emory.

Earlier in the year, she was named to the All-MIAA first team for the second straight year and was named the MIAA's Most Valuable Defensive Player. During the 2018 season, she received AVCA Division III National Player of the Week honors on September 25. 

This past weekend, she was named a finalist for the Division III Women's Honda Awards. 

A nursing major, DeVries carries a 3.85 grade point average. She is a two-time member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll and a four-time member of the Calvin Dean's List. 

Calvin student-athletes have now received Google Cloud Academic All-America honors 133 times including five this this fall.
