Katie Diekema Headed Back to NCAA III Outdoor Track and Field Championships

For the third consecutive year, Calvin senior Katie Diekema has qualified for the NCAA III Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

The NCAA III Championships are slated to be held May 23-25 at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

A native of Kenmore, Washington, Diekema will compete in both the 1500 and 5,000 meter runs. A graduate of Ingelmoor High School, she is seeded sixth in the 1500 meters (4:30.51) and 17th in the 5,000 meters (17:08.97).

Diekema has strung together three consecutive All-America running campaigns. The string began last May when she placed fourth in the 1500 meters at the 2018 NCAA III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. This fall, she placed 16th at the 2018 NCAA III Cross Country Championships. This March, she placed third in the mile run at the 2018 NCAA III Track and Field Championships.

Earlier this month Diekema earned a spot on the All-MIAA Women's Outdoor Track and Field Team by winning the 5,000 meter run. She was also the MIAA champion in the mile run in late February to earn a spot on the All-MIAA Indoor Women's Track and Field Team.
