Calvin Women's Track & Field Posts Big Showing In Opening Day of MIAA Championships

HOLLAND, Mich. – The Calvin Women's Track and Field team competed in the opening day of the MIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Brewer Track. 

After the conclusion of today's events, Calvin is in second place with 30 points, only two points behind first place Albion.  

Starting the knights out strong in the 10,000 meters was Michelle Koetje with a first-place finish of 37:33.43. Leah Bishop also picked up a point for the Knights finishing in eighth place with a time of 40:34.08.

In the Hammer Throw, Waverly VerHill finished in sixth overall with a toss of 133-8.

Winning the Long Jump was Renee Miller with a leap of 17-6 ½. Allison Rozell finished in third place with a jump of 16-10.

The Knights return to action tomorrow as they compete in the final day of the MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Field events start at 10 a.m. followed by running events at 1:30 p.m.
