EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Calvin women's track and field team competed at the Michigan State Spartan Invitational on Saturday.
Senior Katie Diekema (Kenmore, Wash./Inglemoor HS) continued her sensational senior campaign, clocking in with a season-best time of 4:35.36 that currently ranks seventh on the Division III outdoor performance list.
The Knights also sparkled in the 5,000 meter run as junior Michelle Koetje (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) recorded a season-best time of 17:56.76 while senior Maria Kuiper (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian HS) had a season-best time of 18:44.27.
In the 3,000 meter steeplechase, sophomore Annie Needs (Peru Il./St. Bede Academy) had a career-best time of 11:32.29 while sophomore Emma Schroer (Wheaton. Il./Wheaton Warrenville-South HS) had a season-best time of 12:07.06.
In the 100 meter dash, freshman Abbie Cooley (Castle Rock, Co./Castle View HS) had a season-best time of 13.47 while freshman Stephanie Coors (Evergreen, Co./Valor Christian HS) did the same with a time of 13.87.
Calvin athletes will split up next weekend as a contingent of its distance crew heads to Bucknell University for the Bison Classic with the remainder of the team competing at an invitational hosted by Oakland University.
