Calvin Women's Track and Field Team Falls to Hope in Non-Conference Dual Meet

HOLLAND, Mich. - Calvin traveled to Hope for a non-conference dual meet on Friday. Hope defeated Calvin 112-86.

Calvin had wins in the distance events with senior Katie Diekema (Kenmore, Wash./Inglemoor HS) winning the 2000 meter run (6:30.56) while freshman Sadie Heeringa (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) won the 1500 meters with a career-best time of 4:43.56. Senior Hattie Greydanus (Corvallis, Ore./Corvallis HS) also won the 800 meters (2:24.56).

Sophomore Renee Miller (Marlette, Mich./Marlette HS) won the 100 meter hurdles (17.26) while placing second in the 200 meters (27.80).

Freshman Mady Vander Zwaag (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian HS) won the high jump (5-1) and took third in the 400 meters (1:04.30). Junior Allison Rozell (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Northern HS) won the javelin throw (110-11) and took second in the long jump (16-11).

Freshman Abbie Cooley (Castle Rock, Co./Castle View HS) took second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.52.

Freshman Waverly VerHill (Verona, Pa./Trinity Christian HS) won the hammer throw with a career-best toss of 135-7 1/2. Senior Madeline Dice (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Grosse Pointe South HS) won the pole vault with a height of 8-10.

Calvin will now prepare to compete at the Michigan State Spartan Invitational next Friday and Saturday.
