Katie Diekema Captures Gregory Invite 1500 Meter Title With Career-Best & NCAA III Qualifying Time

NAPERVILLE, Il. – Calvin junior Katie Diekema (Kenmore, Wash./Ingelmoor HS) booked her ticket to the upcoming NCAA III Outdoor Track and Field Championships by winning the 1500 meters with a career-best time of 4:30.89 Thursday night at the Gregory Invitational hosted by North Central College. The time ranks ninth on the NCAA III Outdoor list this spring and will guarantee Diekema a second straight trip to the outdoor national meet.

In the long jump, sophomore Jenna Dyksen (Hawthorne, NJ/Hawthorne HS) placed second with a leap of 18-2.25.

In the 3,000 meter steeplechase, freshman Angeline Needs (Peru, Il./Saint Bede Academy) clocked a career-best time of 11:32.83. Sophomore Emma Schroer (Wheaton, Il./Wheaton Warrenville South HS) was 15th in 11:43.89.
