Calvin Women's Track and Field in Third Place Through Day One of MIAA Championships

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Calvin women's track and field team is in third place through day one of the MIAA Championships at Adrian College. The Knights have 39 points through five scored events.

Hope leads the competition with 49.5 points while Trine is second with 40 points.

Senior Jenna Dyksen (Hawthorne, NJ./Hawthorne HS) captured her second MIAA (outdoor) long jump title in three years on Thursday, uncorking a season-best leap of 18-05 3/4. Junior Erin Van Lenten (Hawthorne, NJ/Eastern Christian HS) added an eighth place jump of 16-8.

In the 10,000 meters, Calvin took three of the top seven spots led by sophomore Michelle Koetje (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) who placed second with a time of 39:15.99. Senior Catherine Croft (Grand Rapids, Mich./Coopersville HS) was fourth (40:13.91) and senior Kate McLain (Kalamazoo, Mich./Kalamazoo Christian HS) seventh (40.53.98).

In the high jump, senior Kayla Van Lenten (Hawthorne, NJ/Eastern Christian HS) was third (5-0 1/4) and Erin Van Lenten fifth (4-11).

Freshman Annaka Ediger (Hudsonville, Mich./Hamilton HS) had a banner day in the throws, taking seventh in the discus (110-8) and eighth in the hammer throw (118-9). Her throw in the hammer was a career-best by 22 feet while her throw in the discus was a career-best by nearly 10 feet.

Action continues with field events on Friday morning with events on the track set for the afternoon.
