Calvin Women's Track and Field Takes Second at Calvin Tune-Up Invitational

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Calvin women's track and field team took second at its own Calvin Tune-Up Invitational with 120 points, finishing just one point behind first place Davenport.

Senior Jenna Dyksen (Hawthorne, NJ/Hawthorne HS) was a double-winner, taking first place in the 100 meter hurdles (15.11) and triple jump (37-4). She also ran on Calvin's fourth place 4x100 meter relay team that recorded a time of 52.53. She was joined on the relay by freshman Renee Miller (Marlette, Mich./Marlette HS), freshman Patience Buckley (Smithville Flats, NY/Susquehanna Valley HS) and freshman Brooke Van Lenten (Hawthorne, NJ/Eastern Christian HS).

Brooke Van Lenten won the javelin throw (122-6) and placed sixth in the pole vault (10-0).

Senior Kayla Van Lenten (Hawthorne, NJ/Eastern Christian HS) was second in the pole vault (11-0) and fourth in the high jump (5-0).

In the 1500 meters, sophomore Sarah Ball (Lynden, Wash./Lynden Christian HS) was fifth in a time of 5:08.48. Senior Kate McLain (Kalamazoo, Mich./Kalamazoo Christian HS) was second in the 3,000 meters (11:18.43).

Junior Erin Van Lenten (Hawthorne, NJ/Eastern Christian HS) was fourth in the 100 meter hurdles (17:01). Sophomore Margaret VanWylen (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian HS) was second in the 400 meters (1:02.70) while freshman Sarah George (Kentwood, Mich.) was eighth (1:09.18).

Freshman Renee Miller (Marlette, Mich./Marlette HS) was sixth in the 100 meter dash (13.09) and 200 meter dash (27.53) and third in the long jump (17-1). Sophomore Allison Rozell (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Northern HS) was sixth in the long jump (15-10).

Freshman Madison Brink (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian HS) took third in the 400 meter hurdles (1:12.95). Senior Hattie Greydanus (Corvallis, Ore./Corvallis HS) was third in the 800 meters (2:22.27).

In the 4x400 meter relay, Brink, VanWylen, junior Alyssa Roels (Grand Rapids, Mich./Northpointe Christian HS) and freshman Seanna Johnson (Parkersburg, Wva./Parkersburg HS) took first in a time of 4:27.93.

Freshman Annaka Ediger (Hamilton, Mich./Hamilton HS) was eighth in the javelin (96-7).

A group of Calvin distance runners also compete at the Hillsdale Gina Relays this weekend. On Friday, junior Katie Diekema (Kenmore, Wash./Inglemoor HS) was 24th in the 5,000 meter run (17:50.02).

Calvin will now prepare to compete at the MIAA Championships May 3 and 4 at Adrian College.
