2018 NCAA III INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS INVITE LIST

Calvin College junior Katie Diekema has qualified for the NCAA III Indoor Track and Field Championships slated to be held March 9 and 10 at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama.

Diekema (Kenmore, Wash./Inglemoor HS) will compete in the mile run where she is seeded 11th with a time of 4:55.52. She will be one of 17 competitors in the mile run and will compete in the prelims on Friday afternoon at 2:50 p.m.

"Our track and field program is extremely excited to see Katie qualify for the national meet," said Calvin head track and field coach Bret Otte. "She has worked very hard to get this opportunity and she is running at a very high level right now."

Diekema was recently named the MIAA's Most Valuable Runner for indoor track and field after winning MIAA titles in both the mile and 5,000 meter runs two weeks ago at the MIAA Championships at Trine University.

She is no stranger to NCAA III Championship competition. This past November, she placed 125th individually at the NCAA III Cross Country Championships. Last May, she qualified for the NCAA III Outdoor Track and Field Championships and finished 15th in the 1,500 meter run.
