GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Two members of the Calvin women's indoor track & field team were named All-MIAA selections. The Knights won four events at the 2018 MIAA Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at Trine.
"It was impressive to see Katie and Erin win two events a piece," said head coach Bret Otte. "It is hard to do, especially in a very tough field. It was great to see their progression and their determination to improve."
Katie Diekema – A junior from Kenmore, Washington, Diekema is claiming indoor All-MIAA honors for the second-straight year. She won the 1-mile run with a time of 5:05.03 and took the gold medal in the 3000-meter run at 10:19.16. For her performance, Diekema was named the MIAA Most Valuable Runner.
Erin Van Lenten – A junior from Hawthorne, New Jersey, Van Lenten is earning All-MIAA indoor honors for the first time in her career. She opened the championships with a first-place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 35 feet, six inches. In the long jump, she finished in third place at 17 feet, six inches. Her second victory of the day came in the 60-meter hurdles at 9.37.
