Calvin Women's Track And Field Team Posts Big Performances at Last-Chance Meets

The Calvin women's track and field team produced a number of standout performances at last-chance meetings hosted by North Central College and Grand Valley State University Thursday and Friday.

On Thursday night at the North Central College Dr. Keeler Invitational, senior Lauren Strohbehn (Stillwater, Mn./St. Croix Preparatory HS) came up with a season-best time of 36:10.99 in the 10,000 meters. Her time currently places her 19th on the NCAA III performance list.

On Friday, sophomore Katie Diekema (Kenmore, Wash./Inglemoor HS) had a career-best time of 4:34.25 that surpassed her previous best time by nearly 2.5 seconds. Her time currently ranks 16th on the NCAA III performance list.

In the 3,000 meter steeplechase, junior Marissa McGahan (Brighton, Mich./Brighton HS) recorded a career-best time of 11:19.05, lopping off more than eight seconds off her previous best time.

At the Grand Valley State on Friday, junior Jenna Dyksen (Hawthorne, NJ/Hawthorne HS) recorded a career-best time of 14.61 in the 100 meter hurdles that currently ranks 16th on the NCAA III performance list. Senior Michaela Meckes (Bay City, Mich./Saginaw Valley Lutheran HS) heaved the discus 135-2. Freshman Christina Rozell (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Northern HS) tossed the javelin 124-0 and junior Anita VanderMeulen (Ann Arbor, Mich./Skyline HS) ran the 800 meters in 2:26.76.
