Calvin Women's Swimming and Diving Sending Seven to NCAA III Championships

Seven members of the Calvin women's swimming and diving team are headed to the 2017 NCAA III Swimming and Diving Championships scheduled to take place March 15-18 in Shenandoah, Texas.

Scheduled to compete for Calvin at the NCAA III Swimming and Diving Championships are juniors Rachel Mattson and Abby Van Harn, sophomores Kendall Murphy, Anna Serino and Madelyn Smith and freshmen Emily Gunderson and Anna Kutschke.

Calvin is scheduled to compete in all five relays. The Knights are seeded 14th in the 200 freestyle relay (1:34.43), 24th in the 200 medley relay (1:46.87) and 400 medley relay (3:57.71), ninth in the 800 freestyle relay (7:31.58) and 15th in the 400 freestyle relay (3:28.50).

Van Harn (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) is scheduled to compete in all five relays. She will also compete in the 50 freestyle where she is seeded 14th (23.48), the 100 freestyle where she is seeded sixth (50.69) and the 200 freestyle where she is seeded 10th (1:50.90). Van Harn will be making her second consecutive trip to the national meet.

Mattson (Ann Arbor, Mich./Ann Arbor Huron HS) will be competing in Calvin's relays. She is making her second straight appearance at the national meet.

Murphy (Modestoa, Ca./Home Schooled) will also compete in the relays. She is also making her second straight trip to the national meet.

Serino (Pinckney, Mich./Pinckney HS) will compete in the relays. She is making her second consecutive appearance at the NCAA III Championships.

Smith (Allegan, Mich./Allegan HS) will compete in the relays. She is making her first trip to the national meet.

As freshmen, Gunderson (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer HS) and Kutschke (Manistee, Mich./Manistee HS) are making their first trips to the national meet. Gunderson and Kutschke will both compete in the relays.

Calvin has the potential to send junior diver Sarah Bradley (Wheaton, Il./Wheaton North HS) to the national meet. Bradley is competing in in the NCAA III Diving Regional this weekend at Calvin's Venema Aquatic Center.
