Calvin Women's Lacrosse Takes Down Aquinas

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Calvin women's Lacrosse team defeated Aquinas College 21-1 on Tuesday night at Zuidema Field. 

The Knights came out strong as just over a minute in, junior Sarah Hall (Harare, Zimbabwe / Chisipite Senior School) found senior Emma Tilma (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Grand Rapids Christian) and she fired one in the back of the net. 

Senior Genevieve Schneemann (Farmington, Mich. / Farmington) recorded the next three goals within a minute to give Calvin the 4-0 lead. 

The Saints struck next as Naomi Plant connected with Megan Pyrett to get on the board. 

From that point on, Calvin dominated the game as the Knights went on to record 10 more goals in the first half to make it a 16-1 game. 

The Knights continued to control the ball in the second half as they recorded five goals, four of which were from Schneemann and Calvin ran away with the 21-1 victory. 

Schneemann lead the team with eight goals and one assist. Freshman Megan Gilbert (Lansing, Mich. / Holt) recorded four goals and four assists. Senior Lauryn Slachter (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Grand Rapids Christian) had three goals. Freshman Drew Jansma (Holland, Mich. / West Ottawa), junior Allyson Mesman (Hudsonville, Mich. / Hudsonville), and Tilma all recorded two goals of their own. 

Calvin outshot Aquinas 30-5. 

The Knights return to action on Saturday as they travel to Adrian to take on the Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m.
