Calvin Women's Lacrosse Sinks Siena Heights

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Calvin secured a 20-7 non-conference victory over Siena Heights Wednesday evening at Eagles Stadium on the campus of Grand Rapids Christian High School.

Calvin (3-1) led 13-3 at halftime and enjoyed a running clock for much of the second half.

Freshman Megan Gilbert (Lansing, Mich./Holt HS) poured in six goals on eight shots. Junior Jaimie Van De Burg (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) had a big game with three goals, five assists and three draw controls.

Senior Emma Tilma (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) tallied four goals, an assist Junior Allyson Mesman (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville HS) came up with a career-high three goals to go with a ground ball. Senior Lauryn Slachter (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) had two goals and an assist.

Senior Genevieve Schneeman (Farmington, Mich./Farmington HS) had a goal and two assists. Junior Emma Verrett (Beaver, Pa./Beaver County Christian HS) had a goal.

Freshman Drew Jansma (Holland, Mich./West Ottawa HS) recorded a career-high five assists and eight draw controls.

Senior Ellis Chalfant (St. Louis, Mo./Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School) and sophomore Megan Economou (Hartland, Mich./Hartland HS) combined for the win in goal. Chalfant went the first 30 minutes and recorded one save. Economou went the final 30 minutes and tallied three saves.

Calvin returns to action on March 18 when it takes on Cazenovia in Englewood, Florida.
