Women’s Lacrosse Stings Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Calvin women's lacrosse team remained perfect in MIAA in less than perfect conditions on Saturday. The Knights defeated Kalamazoo on a cold, rainy and windy afternoon, 13-6. The Knights improve to 5-0 in the MIAA and 7-5 overall. Kalamazoo falls to 4-7 and to 1-3 in MIAA action.

"The team played well today," said Blake Boehm. "They battled through the elements with energy and intensity. I think we transitioned well we fought hard for our possessions. Overall, this was a good team win."

Senior Amanda Davio (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) started the scoring on a free position shot.

After a Kalamazoo goal, the Knights responded with seven-straight goals.

Junior Grace Einfeld (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) started the streak with a pass from junior Kelly Pepper (Wyckoff, N.J./Indian Hills).

35 seconds later, Amanda Davio found the back of the net again for her second goal of the day.

Sophomore Emma Verrett (Beaver, Pa./Beaver County Christian) got her paws on the scoresheet with a shot that fooled the K'zoo keeper.

Senior Emma Hall (Harare, Zimbabwe/Chisipite Senior School) scored on a free position shot to put Calvin up, 5-1.

Kelly Pepper tallied her third assist of the game with a pass to junior Genevieve Schneemann (Farmington, Mich. / Farmington).

24 seconds later, Amanda Davio earned the hat trick on a free position shot.

The final Calvin goal of the half came from Genevieve Schneemann from Emma Hall.

The Hornets scored a goal late in the half to send the teams to halftime at 8-2.

Emma Verrett started the second half with two-straight goals.

Genevieve Schneemann scored her third goal of the day to push the lead to 11-2.

The Hornets cut into the Calvin lead with a 4-1, the lone Calvin goal coming from Kelly Pepper.

After two Kalamazoo goals, Amanda Davio ended the scoring on Saturday.

Junior Ellis Chalfant (St. Louis, Mo./Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School) recorded four saves in the win.

The Knights were successful on all 17 clear attempts on Saturday.

Amanda Davio finished with a game-high four goals.

Junior Lauryn Slachter (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) led the game with three caused turnovers.

Emma Verrett had a game-high four ground balls.

Calvin renews the rivalry on Tuesday evening. The game marks the final home game of the regular season.
