Calvin Women's Golf Finishes Third at MIAA DIII Qualifier #1

SAUGATUCK, Mich. – The Calvin women's Golf team finished in third place with a score of 361 strokes in the MIAA DIII Qualifier #1 on Thursday evening at the Ravines Golf Club.  

Finishing in first place was Saint Mary's College with a score of 328 followed by Hope College in second with 357 strokes.

Leading the Knights was Senior Nicole VanderYacht (Kentwood, Mich. / South Christian) and freshman Emma Dykhouse (Byron Center, Mich. / South Christian) with a round of 89 strokes each. 

Freshman Kaylee Hirschman (Grand Ledge, Mich. / Grand Ledge) recorded a 91. 

Sophomore Linnea McDonough (Pentwater, Mich. / Pentwater) and sophomore Meredith Bult (Wheaton, IL. / Wheaton Academy) both shot a round of 92. 

Head Coach Jerry Bergsma stated, "Steady rain on the front nine made for challenging course conditions – fought hard to stay in it mentally. Very proud of how each player contributed to our final team scored today. Only 4 shots out of second, so we're looking forward to next weekend!"

The Knights return to action on Friday as they compete in the DAP Cup Match Play at the Ravines Golf Club beginning at 1 p.m.
