Women’s Golf Starts Ninth at Olivet Invite

The BELLEVUE, Mich. – The Knights are in ninth place at the Olivet Invite after the first day. Calvin shot a combined-round of 367 strokes. DePauw leads at 314 strokes.

"Today was a solid start to the tournament," said head coach Dr. Jerry Bergsma. "Nicole VanderYacht had a strong performance with a team-low round of 80. We are looking forward to more progress from the team tomorrow."

Junior Nicole VanderYacht (Kentwood, Mich./South Christan) is tied for sixth place with a round of 80 on Friday.

Freshman Linnea McDonough (Pentwater, Mich./Pentwater) recorded a round of 90 to stand in 32nd place.

In 49th place is sophomore Jessica Zylstra (Grand Rapids, Mich./Northpointe Christian) at 96 strokes.

Junior Katy Hamilton (Grand Rapids, Mich./Catholic Central) is in 47th place at 101 strokes and senior Gen Best (Brighton, Mich./Brighton) is in 63rd place at 106 strokes.

The Knights return to action on Saturday morning for round two.
