Calvin Women's Golf Places Seventh at MIAA Fall Tournament

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - The Calvin women's golf team came back with a second day total of 351 strokes at the MIAA Fall Tournament. Calvin's finish allowed the Knights to move up from eighth to seventh place in the fall tournament standings.

In addition, the Knights place sixth in the final MIAA overall team standings. The 36-hole MIAA Fall Tournament was held at the Bedford Valley Country Club. Calvin finished with a two-day total of 714 strokes (363-351=714).

Calvin's top individual finisher on Saturday was junior Emilee McCusker (Hayward, Wisc./Hayward HS) with a round of 80. She finished tournament tied for 27th (94-80) with a tournament total of 174 strokes.

Sophomore Nicole VanderYacht (Kentwood, Mich./South Christian HS) had a 92 on Saturday and finished 30th individually in the two-day tournament (84-92=176).

Freshman Jessica Zylstra (Grand Rapids, Mich./Northpointe Christian HS) had Calvin's second-best score on Saturday, firing a season-best round of 85. She finished tied for 36th in the tournament (97-85=182).

Senior teammate Amira Bousaab (Grand Rapids, Mich./Northpointe Christian HS) tied with Zylstra for 36th place, firing a round of 94 to finish with a two-day total of 182 strokes (88-94).

Sophomore Grace Bolt (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) had a 99 on Friday and a 96 on Saturday to finish tied for 46th with 195 strokes.

Competing individually on Saturday, senior Gen Best (Brighton, Mich./Brighton HS) had a 98 while senior Katherine Ryan (Haslett, Mich./Haslett HS) had a 102.

Hope took first place at the MIAA Fall Tournament with 619 strokes and claimed the MIAA regular season title by finishing first in the final MIAA overall team standings.
