Women’s Golf Places 10th at Shootout on the Border

BRISTOL, Wis. – The Calvin women's golf team finished the Shootout on the Border in 10th place. The Knights finished the two-day tournament at 718 strokes. Calvin had a combined round of 348 on Saturday, 22 strokes better than Friday. Wisconsin-Whitewater took first place with a two-day score of 645 strokes.

"Today was a confidence builder for us," said head coach Jerry Bergsma. "For us to shoot under 350 helps with the confidence. We had four scores under 90 today, which is a good day for our team."

Sophomore Nicole VanderYacht (Kentwood, Mich./South Christian) was the top finisher for Calvin this weekend in 27th place. VanderYacht recorded a round of 86, a shot better than on Friday.

Also shooting a round of 86 on Saturday was sophomore Grace Bolt (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian). A five-shot improvement from Friday to finish tied for 33rd place at 177 strokes.

Senior Amira Bousaab (Grand Rapids, Mich./Northpointe Christian) had a seven-stroke improvement on Saturday at 87 strokes. She finished the competition tied for 46th place.

Junior Emilee McCusker (Hayward, Wis./Hayward) had a stellar day in her home state with a nine-shot improvement from Friday with a round of 89 on Saturday to finish tied for 56th place.

Junior Gen Best (Brighton, Mich./Brighton) tallied a round of 102 on Saturday for the Knights.

The Knights return to action on Friday as they travel to the two-day Olivet Invite.
