GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Calvin women's basketball team will travel to Olivet on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. for a conference matchup. This is the second meeting between the two teams as the Knights defeated the Comets 70-66 back in December.
The Teams: The Comets are 8-15 overall on the season and 4-10 in the MIAA. The Knights bring a 11-13 overall record and 6-9 MIAA record into the competition.
The Coaches: Brittany Berry is in her first year as interim head coach for the Olivet women's basketball program. Berry is a former All-MIAA player at Hope College.
Austin Randel is in his first year as interim head coach for the Calvin women's basketball program. Randel graduated from Ferris State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business in May of 2010. He started his college basketball career at NCAA Division II North Greenville University in Greenville, SC before transferring to Ferris State. For the past 5 years, Head Coach of Michigan Basketball Academy High School AAU Teams, as well as being named Master Skills Trainer for Youth Camps.
The Players: For the Comets, Shawnee Dame averages 11.5 points and 5.0 rebounds a game.
For the Knights, Gabby Timmer leads the team with an 18.2 scoring average, a 10.7 rebound average and 40 blocks.
