Calvin's Kayla Engelhard Named MIAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week

FREELAND, Mich.  – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Calvin guard Kayla Engelhard its Player of the Week in women's basketball for games played through February 21.

Engelhard, a senior from Unionville (Saginaw Valley Lutheran HS), averaged 13 points per game last week as the Knights won three consecutive games to clinch the MIAA championship and their first unbeaten regular season in school history. She had 17 points, four assists and three steals in a 96-62 victory over Saint Mary's, 10 points and six rebounds in a 61-44 title-clinching win over Hope and 12 points in an 85-71 win over Kalamazoo.

Engelhard, who is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time this season and second time in her career, shot 42 percent from the field (15 of 36) and 87 percent from the line (7 of 8) for the week.
