Calvin Men's Tennis Edged Out by North Central

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Calvin men's Tennis team fell to North Central 5-4 on Wednesday afternoon. 

Starting with singles play, senior Jose Larrea (Caracas, Venezuela / U.E. Colegio San Jose) fell to Victor Krueger in a three-set battle of 6-4, 4-6, 11-9 at No. 1. At No. 2, North Central's Tyler Bussell defeated senior Jason Wolters (Hudsonville, Mich. / Unity Christian)3-6, 7-6, 12-10.

Sophomore Max Stallings (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich. / North)claimed a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Justin Howes at No. 3 singles. At No. 4, senior Charlie Fahr (Milwaukee, Wis. / Wauwatosa East)fell to Tyler Haizel 6-3, 6-2. 

At No. 5, Andy Hinch defeated junior Cobe Benzel (San Dimas, Calif. / San Dimas) 3-6, 6-1, 10-5. Closing out singles play with a 6-4, 6-2 victory was freshman Brandon Johnson (Midland, Mich. / Midland High School)over Lucas Pindak. 

Moving on to doubles, the team of Larrea and Stallings defeated Krueger and Howes 8-2 at No. 1 doubles. 

At No. 2, Wolters and junior Owen Brookhouse (Whitinsville, Mass. / Whitinsville Christian) fell to Hinch and Haizel 8-6. 

Rounding out doubles with an 8-6 victory was the team of Kyrus Tsai and Konner Shapiro over Bussell and Pindak. 

The Knights return to action on Wednesday, March 27th as they take host Spring Arbor at 3:30 p.m.
