ORLANDO, Fla. – The Calvin men's tennis team won its sixth-straight match on Monday morning. The Knights swatted down the Blue Jays of Elmhurst with a 9-0 victory to improve to 7-1.
"Today was a good win for us," said head coach John Ross. "It is always fun to come down here with the team. It always makes this trip more enjoyable with some victories."
The Knights recorded the first point of the day when Elmhurst could not field a No. 3 doubles team. They also need not field a player at No. 6 singles.
Freshman Max Stallings (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich./North) sank Nico Favuzzi at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-2.
Senior David Brown (Lake Zurich, Ill./Lake Zurich) won the battle of Davids on Monday with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over David Demoll at No. 3 singles.
Sophomore Rodrigo Castellanos Vaca Guzmán (Tarija, Bolivia/Felipe Palazon) was victorious over Shawn Sabaricos at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-0.
Junior Jose Larrea (Caracas, Venezuela/U.E. Colegio San Jose) beat Grant O'Connell at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-1.
Junior Charlie Fahr (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa East) brought out the broom at No. 5 singles, defeating Tavious Imperial, 6-0, 6-0.
The Knights look to continue the winning ways on Tuesday against Lawrence.
