Men’s Swimming & Diving Finishes 21st at NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Calvin men's swimming & diving concluded action at the NCAA Division III Men's Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday evening. The Knights finished in 21st place with 36 points. The Maroon and Gold have scored at seven of the last eight NCAA championships.

"This is a long week and tough environment," said head coach Dan Gelderloos. "This team progressed over the last couple years and did some very respectable things. All 15 of our athletes scored, seven All-Americans and eight All-American honorable mentions. There are always some things that don't go our way, but future teams will benefit from what we learned and most importantly, we have stories to share for a lifetime."

The Knights earned points in the 400-yard freestyle relay on Saturday. The team of junior Ben Holstege (Keswick, Va./Covenant), junior Skyler Fish (Ionia, Mich./Ionia, freshman Julian Iturbe (Caracas, Venezuela/Colegio Emil Friedman) and senior Max DeYoung (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Eastern) finished in 15th place at 3:03.72.

Junior Jared Britton (Falls Church, Va./George Mason) touched the wall at 47.00 in the 100-yard freestyle in 49th place.

The Knights closed another successful season on Saturday, highlighted by an MIAA title in February.
