Calvin's Trent Vegter Named to Great Lakes XI Team With GRFC - Preps for NPSL Playoffs Tonight

Calvin College senior Trent Vegter has had a successful summer on the soccer pitch.

A native of Hudsonville and a graduate of Hudsonville Unity Christian High School, Vegter has been a stalwart defender for the Grand Rapids Football Club this summer.

This week, Vegter was named to the Great Lakes Conference XI squad by the National Premier Soccer League.

Each Conference XI includes one head coach, three defenders, four midfielders, and three forwards. The Conference XI winners automatically qualify as nominees for the 2018 NPSL Region XI teams.

Vegter and his GRFC teammates have qualified for the NPSL National Playoffs and will open the playoffs this evening with a match at 8 p.m. (EST) against Duluth Football Club in Duluth, Minnesota.

Vegter is one of three members of the GRFC 18-man traveling roster tonight with Calvin College ties. Also suiting up for GRFC will be 2016 Calvin College graduate Nick Groenewold and 2013 Calvin graduate Joe Broekhuizen.
