Calvin Men's Lacrosse Set to Host Anderson

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Calvin men's Lacrosse team will host Anderson University at 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon for a non-conference matchup. 

The Teams: The Ravens are 0-2 overall. The Knights bring an 2-2 overall record into the competition. 

The Coaches: Jacob Ashton is Anderson's first men's lacrosse coach as this season marks the initial campaign for the program. Ashton spent the past season as an assistant coach at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Va. He has ample collegiate experience, with previous assistant coaching experiences at Messiah College in Mechanicsburg, Pa., Ohio Valley University in Vienna, W.V., and Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, Va. Ashton is a graduate of James Madison University. 

Dave Hoger is in his third year as the head coach of the Calvin men's Lacrosse program. Prior to Calvin, Hoger served as the defensive coordinator for the Frostburg State University (Md.) men's lacrosse team. Hoger graduated from Eastern University (Pa.)with a degree in mathematics and was a four­-year goalie for the Eastern men's lacrosse team. As a senior in 2012, he served as a team captain and led the Eagles to their first­-ever conference championship and NCAA Division III Tournament appearance.

The Players: For the Ravens, Tristian Wilbrandt and Jonathan Orloff lead the team with three goals each.

For the Knights, Max Foster leads the team with seven goals, four assist and a 36.1 shots-on-goal percentage.
