Men’s Lacrosse Falls in Season Opener

WESTFIELD, Ind. – The Calvin men's lacrosse team fell in the season opener on Saturday night against the Red Men of Carthage, 21-3.

The Red Men jumped out to a 20-0 lead on Saturday night.

The first Calvin goal came from sophomore Corey Dymond (Dexter, Mich./Dexter) in the fourth quarter.

Junior Max Foster (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Brother Rice) was credited with an assist on the goal.

Foster would put the ball in the back of the net two minutes later.

With two minutes remaining, junior Austin Bontreger (Fishers, Ind./Heritage Christian) scored the third-straight Calvin goal.

The Red Men tacked one more goal on the scoreboard with a minute remaining.

Senior Michael Winkler and Austin Bontreger led the Knights with three shots on Saturday.

Sophomore Mitchell Caldwell (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) recorded 11 saves on Saturday.

The Knights were outshot on Saturday night, 47-9.

Calvin looks to bounce back on Saturday at Ohio Northern.
