Calvin Men's Golf Finishes Fourth in Final MIAA Spring AQ Tournament Standings

WEST OLIVE, Mich. - The Calvin men's golf team closed out competition at the 54-hole MIAA Spring AQ Tournament with a third place team score of 308 strokes.

Saturday's final round was again held at the Wuskowhan Player's Club with Hope College serving as host. Freshman Mike Battiste (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Central HS) who carded a round of 74. Sophomore Sam Holland (Novi, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central HS) came through with a round of 75 while senior Sam Kuiper (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) had a 78. Senior Alec DeJonge (Niles, Mich./Brandywine HS) had an 81 and freshman Andrew Lack (Northville, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central HS) and 83.

Battiste finished 10th in the final MIAA Tournament individual standings with a 54-hole total of 236 strokes.

Hope posted a first place team score of 292 strokes on Saturday and in the process, passed Kalamazoo in the final tournament standings by a four-stroke margin to gain the league's automatic bid to the NCAA III Tournament.
