WYOMING, Mich. - The Calvin men's golf team took third place on day two of the MIAA Fall Tournament at Kaufman Golf Club. Calvin posted a team score of 284 strokes on the day to total 580 on the weekend.
Hope took first place with 284 strokes (568 total) while Kalamazoo was second at 292 strokes (577 total).
Kalamazoo Nick Ludka had the top individual score on the day/weekend, shooting 68 on Saturday to total 137 strokes.
Calvin freshman Andrew Lack (Northville, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central HS) lead the knights finishing second individually shooting a round of 71 on Saturday to total 139 strokes.
Coming in next for the Knights was senior Alec DeJonge (Niles, Mich./Brandywine HS) who carded a 71 on day two to finish with 144 strokes. Freshman Mike Battiste (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Forest Hills Central)shot a round of 74 (148 strokes total). Sophomore Sam Holland (Novi, Mich. / Detroit Catholic Central)rounded out Calvin's score shooting a 74 on the day (140 strokes total).
Also competing for the Knights were senior Sam Kuiper (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Grand Rapids Christian)who carded a score of 77 on day two totaling 154 strokes and freshman (Kasen Anderson Stillwater, MN. / St. Croix Preparatory Academy)shot a 74 (144 strokes total).
Andrew Lack earned first team All-Conference honors for Calvin.
Calvin finished second on the season overall with a total of 1770 strokes. The Knights will advance on to the Spring Tournament.
Head Coach Brian Bolt touched on the Knight's fall season. "It was a very good fall season for us. Our second-place finish is solid, but also reveals we have work to do going into the spring. We are looking forward to a winter break but are eager to get back at it and show improvement in the spring."
The Knights will break for the winter and return to competition in the spring.
