Calvin took third at the two-day Irish Hills Fall Invitational, posting a 36-hole score of 594 strokes. Calvin was one of 12 teams competing at the tournament.
Friday's initial 18-hole round was originally suspended by darkness but was picked up Saturday morning and continued into the day.
Senior Sam Kuiper (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) and sophomore Sam Holland (Novi., Mich./Detroit Catholic Central HS) led Calvin with totals of
147 with Kuiper shooting 70 on the opening 18-hole round and 77 on day two. Holland shot 77 to open the tournament and came back with a 70.
Senior Alec DeJonge (Niles, Mich./Brandywine HS) had a 149 (73-76) while freshman Andrew Lack (Northville, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central HS) had a 153 (75-78). Freshman Kasen Anderson (Stillwater, Mn./St. Croix Preparatory Academy) also had a 153 (76-77).
Lawrence Tech took the tournament title with a final team score of 583 with Wayne State second at 584.
Calvin is back in action next Saturday when it competes at an MIAA tournament hosted by Trine University.
