BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - Calvin took third at the Olivet College Lou Collins Memorial Tournament, posting a strong day two score of 290 to finish the 36-hole competition with a final team score of 593. The Knights finished five strokes behind second place Trine. Hope took first place in the 14-team field with a team score of 574.
The tournament was held at the Bedford Valley Country Club.
Freshman Kasen Anderson led the way for Calvin, posting a two-day one-under par round of 143. Anderson shot a round of 70 Saturday morning capped off by a double eagle on the par five 16th hole. Anderson finished tied for fifth in the final individual standings.
Senior Sam Kuiper (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) came back with a 74 on Saturday to finish at 151 overall and tied for 19th place.
Senior Alec DeJonge (Niles, Mich./Brandywine HS) had a 73 on Saturday to also finish with a two-day total of 151. In addition, freshman Andrew Lack (Northville, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central HS) finished with a two-day score of 151 after carding a round of 76 Saturday. Sophomore Sam Holland (Novi, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central HS) had a 36-hole total of 152 including a round of 73 on Saturday.
Calvin will now prepare to compete at the Alma Invitational next Saturday.
