NORMAL, Il. - The Calvin men's golf team took 14th at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday with a team score of 325 strokes.
The competition was originally scheduled to be a two-day, 36-hole event but Friday's round was wiped out by weather.
Saturday's round was played in cold and blustery conditions at the Ironwood Golf Club.
Junior Alec DeJonge (Niles, Mich./Brandywine HS) had Calvin's top score with a round of 80.
Freshman Sam Holland (Novi, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central HS) was right behind with an 81 while senior Matthew Lumbantoruan (Jakarta, Indonesia/Morningstar Academy) and freshman Joshuah Lansky (Park City, Ut./Park City HS) had rounds of 82.
Junior Mitchell Knoor (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) completed Calvin's finishers with a round of 87.
Host Illinois Wesleyan won Saturday's competition with a team score of 289 strokes. David Gerig of Millikin University was the tournament medalist with two-under par round of 70.
Calvin will host the Knight Cup Alumni Invite next Saturday at the Watermark Country Club.
