Men's Golf Opens Play at Wynlakes Intercollegiate

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The No. 25-ranked Calvin men's golf team posted a team score of 320 on the first day of the Wynlakes Intercollegiate Invitational at Wynlakes Golf and Country Club. The Knights sit in fourteenth place through 18 holes of play.

Senior Ben VanScoyk (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) shot a 75 to lead the Knights, individually tied for 14th overall.

Freshman Sam Holland (Novi, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central) posted a 79 to sit tied for 42nd place overall. Senior John Van Noord (Troy, Mich./Oakland Christian) shot an 80 to be tied for 50th overall.

Junior Alec DeJonge (Niles, Mich./Brandywine) finished day one tied for 77th individually, recording an 86. Senior Matthew Lumbantoruan (Jakarta, Indonesia/Morning Star Academy) carded an 87 to end day one tied for 81st individually.

Calvin is one 11 ranked teams competing in Montgomery, Alabama.

No. 3 Huntingdon College sits in first place with a team score of 293 strokes.

The Knights return to action on Tuesday for the final round of the two-day tournament.
