Calvin Men's Golf Places Eighth at O'Briant-Jensen Memorial Tournament
GREENSBORO, NC - The Calvin men's golf team took eighth in a field of 20 teams at the O'Briant-Jensen Memorial Tournament with a 36-hole team score of 602 strokes.
 
Calvin opened the tournament on Monday with a team score of 300 and followed with a team score of 302 Tuesday. 

Senior Ben VanScoyk (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) led Calvin over the two-day tournament with a total of 149 (75-74) that placed him in a tie for 21st individually.
 
Junior Alec DeJonge (Niles, Mich./Brandywine HS) finished tied for 26th individually, carding a 36-hole total of 150 (74-76).
 
Senior John Van Noord (Troy, Mich./Oakland Christian HS) tied for 50th with 154 strokes (75-79). 
 
After shooting 82 on Monday, junior Sam Kuiper (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) came back with a round of 73 for Calvin's top round on Tuesday. He finished tied for 57th with a total of 155 strokes.
 
Freshman Sam Holland (Novi, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central HS) tied for 65th, carding rounds of 76 and 80 at the tournament. 

Calvin was one of nine teams ranked in the Golfstat.com Division III national rankings competing at the tournament.

Sixth-ranked Methodist University (N.C.) took first place with a final tournament total of 580, shooting 290 both days.

Mark Connelly of Huntingdon College took home tournament medalist honors with a three-under par score 139, shooting 68 on Monday and 71 on Tuesday.
