Calvin Men's Golf In Second Through Day One of Tim Kopka Memorial Tournament
WEST DUNDEE, IL - The Calvin men's golf team is in the hunt for the Tim Kopka Memorial Tournament title after a strong day one of competition.
 
Cavin fired a team score of 291 on Friday and sits just two strokes behind host Carthage which leads the 20-team field.
 
The Knights featured a consistent lineup as all five golfers shot 75 or under. 
 
Senior Ben VanScoyk (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) led Calvin with a round of 71 that places him in third place individually heading into Saturday's final round of competition. 
 
Senior John Van Noord (Troy, Mich./Oakland Christian HS) had a 72 (6th place), junior Sam Kuiper (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) a 73 (14th place), senior Matthew Lumbantoruan (Jakarta, Indonesia/Morning Star Academy) a 75 and freshman Sam Holland (Novi, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central HS) a 75. 
 
Matt Meneghetti of Carthage had top score of the day with a round of 69.
 
Action continues on Saturday at the Randall Oaks Golf Club.
