Calvin Men's Basketball Tripped Up at Trine In Overtime
ANGOLA, Ind. - Calvin dropped a 75-68 overtime decision at Trine University Wednesday night.
The host Thunder went on a 13-4 run late in regulation to tie the game at 59.  Junior Austin Bykerk (Jenison, Mich./Unity Christian HS) nailed a jumper to give Calvin a 61-59 lead with 1:40 left in regulation but the Thunder scored the next four points to take a 63-61 lead with 50 seconds remaining.
Freshman Luke Morrison (Bristol, Ind./Northridge HS) connected on a jumper for the Knights (8-14 overall, 4-7 MIAA) with 23 seconds remaining to tie the game at 63. 
Calvin junior Jason Walter (Coloma, Mich./Coloma HS) blocked a Trine shot in the closing seconds to help send the game into overtime.
Trine scored the first six points of overtime to take a 69-63 lead. Calvin later closed to within two at 69-67 on a three-pointer by Luke Morrison with 1:43 remaining but Trine converted six free throws down the stretch to seal the win.
Calvin led 32-30 at halftime and held a 55-46 advantage with 7:42 remaining. 
Calvin was paced offensively by Bykerk, Morrison and sophomore Derrick DeVries (Grand Rapids, Mich./Covenant Christian HS) who had 17 points apiece.
Trine (10-12 overall, 6-5 MIAA) was led by Myles Copeland who poured in 41 points.
Calvin returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Kalamazoo at 3 p.m. at Van Noord Arena.
